Len Weatherall

Leonard “Len” Weatherall was a teammate of Colin Tinsley in the Redcar Boys Club squad of the early 1950s. The team was a conveyor belt of success at that time, with future Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Collins and Chelsea, Tottenham and England legend Bobby Smith being amongst the list of famous names to have graced the club.
1954 saw Tinsley move to Grimsby’s Blundell Park, and Weatherall joined him the following season. An inside forward, he scored once in ten appearances on the way to gaining promotion from the Football League Division Three North. He then moved into non-league, appearing for Weymouth, Louth, Goole and Ross Group.
